Malaysia

Malaysia is a country of incredible social, culinary and geographical diversity. It should be on travellers’ itineraries more often. Between an ultra-modern capital city, untouched sleepy villages and chill tropical beaches, Malaysia has everything on offer.

Malaysia

A Snapshot

Enjoy Capital Life

Kuala Lumpur, “the City of Contrasts and Diversity,” (or KL as it’s known by its locals) is one of those “must visit” Southeast Asian capital cities. It’s a buzzing hub of diversity, mingling in all its colourful layers. And when you count in the friendliest locals, this city really is not one to be missed. We love KL.

Visit Heritage Cities

Malaysia has some fantastic examples of heritage cities. There’s a reason why both George Town and Malacca are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but hip Ipoh also deserves attention. Get lost in their streets steeped in culture and history.

Explore Taman Negara

Relatively easy to reach from the country’s major hubs, Taman Negara proudly sits in the middle of the Peninsula. It is said to be the oldest tropical rainforest in the world – at 130 million years old. If that’s not enough reason to visit, we don’t know what is! The perfect destination for any outdoor enthusiast.

Go Island Hopping

Whether it’s the more developed Western side of the country, or the less visited Eastern side you choose, Malaysia has some of the best beaches in South East Asia within easy reach. Choose Penang or Langkawi for culture and nightlife, Perhentian or Kapas for a chilled tropical island paradise.

Indulge in Local Food

It is no surprise that a country of such diversity, offers some incredible food to discover. Whether it be Malay, Chinese, Indian or international cuisine, you can pretty much find anything your taste buds are craving. Malaysia is also incredibly vegan-friendly, if you are so inclined.

Hike the Cameron Highlands

If you are a fan of nature and sweating, then Cameron Highlands is a sure bet! The region attracts its fair share of tour groups, but they tend to stick to the farm shops. There are several hiking routes you can take to escape the crowds and get closer to nature instead. Still, you have to go and try some tea as well whilst you’re there!
